Terms of use

Kipside is free software provided as-is. These terms are short because the relationship is simple: you install it, it runs on your computer, and nothing of yours reaches us.

The licence

You may install and use Kipside for any purpose, personal or commercial, at no cost. There is no seat limit, no trial period and no paid tier.

What we don't do

Kipside has no servers. We do not receive, store, process or transmit anything you copy, capture or download. We have no account system and no way to identify you. This is a property of how the extension is built, not a promise we could quietly stop keeping — see the privacy policy for detail.

No warranty

Kipside is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Concretely, and worth reading rather than skimming: Kipside is a temporary working shelf, not a backup system. Clips expire on a schedule you choose, browser storage can be cleared by the browser or by you, and data can be lost. Do not use Kipside as the only copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Export regularly if something matters.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors are not liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from the use of this software — including lost data, lost work or lost time.

Your responsibilities

Third-party software

Kipside bundles the Tesseract OCR engine and tesseract.js for the optional local text recognition feature, both under the Apache License 2.0. Their licences are included in the extension package.

Changes

If these terms change, the date above changes and the change is described in the release notes. Continuing to use Kipside after a change means accepting it; if you would rather not, uninstalling removes the extension and its local data.
