Kipside is installed.
Two things to try, and one setting worth knowing about. It takes about a minute.
1. Open the shelf
Click the Kipside icon in your toolbar, or press ⌥⇧K (Alt+Shift+K on Windows and Linux). The panel opens beside the page you're on and stays there while you move between tabs.
If you don't see the icon, click the puzzle-piece button in Chrome's toolbar and pin Kipside.
2. Capture something
Press ⌥⇧S and drag a box around any part of this page. The screenshot goes straight to the shelf — no Save dialog, no file to name, no editor.
Then click it. It's on your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere.
Try ⌥⇧X too: hover any paragraph and click it to take clean text without fighting the page's selection handles. Both shortcuts work on any site, without granting Kipside access to anything.
3. Decide whether to save what you copy
This is the one that surprises people. Kipside asks for no access to any website when you install it, which means that by default it does not save what you copy — only what you explicitly capture.
That's the most private setting, and for some people it's the right one. If you want your copy history too — the feature most people install this for — open Settings → Site access and either allow individual sites as you go, or turn on all sites.
You can change it whenever you like, and pause capture entirely from the panel header at any time.
Worth knowing
- Clips expire after 7 days by default. Pin the ones worth keeping — pinned clips never expire.
- Press / in the panel to search everything instantly.
- Several password managers are excluded from capture before you touch the settings.
- Everything stays on this device. There's no account and no server.
